This course may be used for both initial and recurrent training.
This course is intended for the training of shore-side dangerous goods employees responsible for the handling, shipping, or transportation of dangerous goods internationally by vessel using the requirements of the IMDG Code. When taken in conjunction with the pre-requisite course listed below, it provides the required elements of general awareness and function-specific training, as well as those of safety and security awareness.
Learning Objectives / Modules:
Navigation of the IMDG Code to determine requirements for the safe transportation of dangerous goods (DG) by vessel, including:
- Introduction
- Classification
- Dangerous Goods List
- Packaging
- Consignment Procedures
- Documentation
- Portable tanks
- Transport Operations (including stowage & segregation requirements)
Dangerous goods employees and their supervisors who work for shippers, carriers, freight forwarders, third party logistics companies, and who handle, package, mark, label, placard, prepare/validate shipping documents, and/or offer dangerous goods for transport by vessel.
Pre-requisite: Security Awareness Training

The current edition of the IMDG Code Regulations is required for this course.
