It explains the various types of battery technology in use today and has been designed to meet the function-specific training requirements of the regulations for excepted lithium batteries and can be used for both initial and recurrent training.

Lithium battery types covered in this course include:

• Lithium Ion Cells & Batteries

o Small (all modes) – Not to exceed 20 Wh/cell or 100 Wh/battery
o Medium (ground only) – Not to exceed 60 Wh/cell or 300 Wh/battery

• Lithium Metal Cells & Batteries

o Small (all modes) – Not to exceed 1 g lithium/cell or 2 g lithium/battery
o Medium (ground only) – Not to exceed 5 g lithium/cell or 25 g lithium/battery

The course meets the regulatory training standards set out in 49 CFR, Part 172, Subpart H, for all employees involved in the safe transportation of lithium batteries by ground and includes all recent amendments and interpretations.

The course meets the regulatory training standards set out in the IATA DGR, Section 1.6 (as well as those in the 49 CFR, Part 172, Subpart H) for all dangerous goods employees involved in the safe transportation of excepted lithium batteries by ground and air and includes all recent amendments.
