Course Description:
This course is designed to provide comprehensive training on general and security awareness requirements for the multimodal transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods as outlined in 49 CFR §172.704, Part 6 of the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDGR), Chapter 1.3 of ADR, Title 8 Chapter IV of Mexican Regulation for Ground Transport of Hazardous Materials and Waste, Chapter 1.3 of the IMDG Code, and Sub-Section 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. The course focuses on enhancing awareness and understanding of the critical role of dangerous goods employees in the safe transportation of dangerous goods.
Participants will gain a thorough understanding of general and security awareness requirements and procedures as per 49 CFR, TDGR, ADR, IMDG Code, and ICAO/IATA regulations. The course covers an overview of key topics such as:
- Understanding General Awareness: Purpose of the regulations and their framework.
- Packaging and Communication: Marking, labeling, and documentation requirements, and implementing appropriate measures when dangerous goods are present.
- Exemptions: How and when certain exemptions to the regulations may apply.
- Understanding Security Awareness: Purpose and impact of security awareness on transportation security.
- Security Risks and Threats: Identification of potential security risks in the transportation sector and measures to mitigate them.
